An Open Letter to Congress: Consumers demand lower prescription pricesAn open letter to Congress

We asked you to share your voices, and thousands spoke!

It’s clear – our health care system has a problem, and our elected leaders need to act.

We told you we would share your stories to put the pressure on politicians, and that’s exactly what we did. We gathered together compelling stories from all over, and sent an open letter to our elected representatives.

Here’s what we sent:

To: Elected Representatives
From: Voices for Affordable Health
Re: Skyrocketing costs

Dear Elected Representatives:

Thousands of consumers have shared their personal thoughts and stories this past year about high pharmaceutical drug costs.

The problem is real. Just read Voices for Affordable Health’s Facebook page.

“I have had a liver transplant,” writes John J. Brown. “My meds are expensive. I’m not rich. If they go up in price I will have to stop taking them and so will others.”

Many blame pharmaceutical companies for taking advantage of consumers and their families.

“They control the market!” writes Sandra Randall. “They charge too much. There are too many drugs and too many advertisements making too many claims.”

Charley Miller joined others who want less talk from their elected leaders and more action.

“Congress needs to do something about out-of-control drug companies,” he writes.

And Nancy Mehlenbacher shares: “Medicare is not allowed to negotiate drug prices. Not helpful to consumers.”

Make no mistake: Consumers are calling for help. It’s time for our elected leaders to act.

Sincerely,
Voices for Affordable Health

Thank you to all those who spoke out and shared their stories. This is a great step, but we’ve only just begun.

Let’s keep the pressure on. Share your stories now! We won’t stop until we see real change!

Together can make a difference.
