After her knee surgery, Sally Zeek received a surprise bill from a doctor she didn’t know who was not in her insurance network. She called the doctor’s office and negotiated the bill down to whatever the insurance company would pay for an out-of-network provider.
“He was observing, but I didn’t know that,” Zeek posted.
Have you received an excessive and unexpected medical bill? A number of states have taken action to limit so-called “surprise” billing practices. But huge gaps remain. Tell Congress to protect everyone and to act this year.
